Ant Plant (Large) 🐜 Hydnophytum papuanum
Height: 30cm
Pot size: 12cm
This odd fella is an epiphytic (i.e. they grow on trees rather than in the ground) plant native to Southeast Asia. It earned the name 'Ant Plant' because its bulbous stem is home to a maze of tunnels, which, in the wild, would be home to a colony of ants. The plant gives the ants a home and in return they feed the plant via their waste and fight off pests. How cool is that?!
Though you don't have to worry about ants colonising this plant at home, you can appreciate this quirky guy for his odd looks.
Care:
💧 They need very little water to get by. Wait until the whole pot is dry and then give it a drink; preferably by bottom watering.
🌞 Bright, indirect light is best
🐶🐱 Toxic if consumed
Your plant
I try my best to make sure my photos reflect what you will receive, however every plant is unique and so there will be some differences. Plants, like people, are all different, and that’s what makes them beautiful 🥰
